4th Street Summer Sidewalk Sale Recap!

It was a gorgeous day and the street was packed with folks (and doggies) from near and far (San Diego and Palm Springs were a few of the out-o-towner origins).  Judging from the amount of brimming goodie bags we saw being lugged down the street, it was a successful day for shoppers and merchants alike!

“Big Thursday” Breakwater Event At Shelter Surf Shop

n114417648593009_536Join us for a FREE multi-media Breakwater exhibit at the local Shelter Surf Shop. This night will provide a social forum for breakwater advocates, many of whom will be honored for their work improving the region’s water quality. This event will kick off the month of May’s events recognizing Breakwater Awareness Month.

The event, titled “Big Thursday”, is part of Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell’s Breakwater Awareness Month (BAM). “Big Thursday” will feature an historical photo exhibit, screenings of two surfing and Breakwater documentaries (”Accidental Icon: The Real Gidget Story” directed by Brian Gillogly and “Mother Wants Her Beauty Back” directed by Grant Eads) and a “Hang Ten” awards presentation honoring local activists.

The Long Beach Film Festival: TLBFF presents an afternoon of bicycle films and music/comedy at The Art Theatre starting at 1 PM:

This ’70s themed shindig got revelers in the mood for the Art Theatre’s showing of the ultimate Prom nightmare: Stephen King’s classic movie, “Carrie”.
